RIGHT HERE IN CARVER COUNTY

It doesn’t matter where I’ve been,
To oceans, mountains, lakes or streams,
To cities, countries and places of dreams,
My Mind still goes home to Carver County.

I lived in Chaska most of my life,
It’s where he asked me to be his wife,
We raised our kids and worked the land,
And had a kind of life, not everyone could understand.

Life was good, we both worked hard,
Took care of the kids and parents and more.
Each day was a blessing, and as we did the chores,
We wondered what the future had in store.

This was the land that Wendelin plowed,
Growing alfalfa to feed the cows,
On land passed down from father to son,
Oh, if he could just see us now!

So, we sit on our porch at the end of the day,
And watch the corn sway in the wind,
Like our very own big green ocean,
Right here, In Carver County.
