FIELD STILL LIFE

At first I saw the emptiness
A long expanse of cold
The forgotten road I traveled on
Eventually had me sold
It may be Winter, there may be ice
Winds may sting and pain
But I did see the beauty
In the hills stripped of grain
Flower fields of bright yellow stems
Rolling across a cloud
A layered sky pastels to blue
I can share this, I vowed
Take my mitten by the hand
Step your boots across the land
Embrace your Winter with face to sun
Celebrate Spring, but only
When Winter is done.

BELOW ZERO, CLEAR SKIES

Morning hovers
Hoarfrost covers

Frozen Mist
Winter’s Tryst

Sun rays warm
After the storm

Frigid air
Coasts to wear

Months of cold
Beautiful, Bold
